No, there is no such difference between MBA in HRM and PGDM in HR. It is the naming convention which has to be followed. If any institution is not having university status, then it can only give out Diplomas and not degrees and MBA is a degree and PGDM is a Diploma, which is equivalent to MBA by Indian Association of Universities. So, earlier IIMs were giving out PGDMs, but now they have shifted to MBA after cabinet has claw Fred the bill.

Since, nowadays MBA has been the most common choices after graduation. But, MBA is a PG degree so it will be of much importance, only if you pursue it from well-established and recognized institute. Because nowadays having a degree is not a big thing but if you have the industry oriented knowledge it will be much easier to grab a good job. You can prepare for CAT and if you score a good score you can get a good college. So, be calm and take your decision wisely while making a choice. All the best.

According to me, you should build your career in the management area rather than going foe MS or IT or programming related field. You can pursue certifications for the same if you want.
