If you are looking for 2 years' MBA or PGDM than you have to clear CAT/ other MBA entrance exam. But it's better to go for 1-year executive MBA. You need to write GMAT/GRE. A good score in GMAT will get you into Indian as well as foreign institutes. ISB-Hyderabad is best for executive MBA.

The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) had always been the holy grail for management education in India till this time, and the Fellow Programs in Management FPM at the IIMs began seeing renewed interest. It's better to go for one more attempt, if you do not have more than 1 year of gap in your education. Prepare well for next year's MBA entrance exam. Keep practicing the questions of topics covered in CAT syllabus. Do join a good test series to evaluate your performance. Just keep a determined and regular practice towards preparation.

I would say that it's totally up to one's interest because opportunities are abundant in both fields. Regarding IPMAT, it's a 5 year long programme comprising of graduation and MBA degree.
