B.Arch academic wise, excellently designed course structure is ideal but, I feel there's more of theoretical approach in the preference to full exposure to creativity as compared to any other proper architecture university. Faculty members are good, all are very skilled in their specific subject. Infrastructure is average as compared to other colleges (especially private) offering B.Arch. Placements don't take place for architecture often, 2-3 companies come for the placement. Extracurricular exposure is less in comparison to some other architecture colleges, as I have seen in SPA-Delhi. They opt for innovative and creative activities to develop design thinking.

The University offers an array of subjects that cater to the capabilities of different individuals at various levels of education. Primarily, the aim is to enrich and support the individual in their endeavor towards the attainment of knowledge, and wisdom to apply that knowledge, in coherence with the aims and ambitions of the individual in particular and for the greater good of human kind in general. Jadavpur University interacts with enterprise, research bodies and civil society within the process of curriculum development, revision and implementation. Jadavpur University outreach programmes and worldwide collaborations are among the best in the country and this facilitates in receiving feedback from people and communities within the country as well as from some of the best research institutions within the world. In the professional arena, the department is equipped with expertise inside the fields of Architectural design theory, urban design, making plans, Architectural Acoustics, Architectural Conservation and panorama architecture. It extends professional consultancy services to both public and private sectors. The department is also strongly dedicated towards community outreach programs and several faculty contributors are engaged in such services of their individual capacities. The students of the department have their personal organisation named students Society of architecture, Jadavpur University (SSAJU) that was formed to extend economic aid to needy students, especially for their final year thesis assignments and have helped many a student so far. The students regularly participate in numerous extra-curricular activities like quiz contests/ architectural competitions/ design workshops/ cultural fests etc. And show tremendous consistency in winning titles /awards in both individual as well as group categories. This year, the department is celebrating its 50-years milestone along-with the Diamond Jubilee of our university. The university is extremely keen on betterment of infrastructure to promote a more conducive academic environment.
