It's a misunderstanding. There are two civil service exams, Preliminary and Main. Prelims is the screening test only and is objective type of examination. Negative marking system is there. The syllabus: - Indian and World History, Current affairs, Basic mathematics and English (10th standard level). Once you clear Prelims, you can continue with mains.
The Mains examination is descriptive type. We have option to choose any subjects from given list. For example, an MBBS graduate who is interested in history can select history as an optional subject. The questions will be based on optional subject.
Commerce and management subjects are in the list. Some other optional subjects are:
1. Engineering
2. Medical
3. Political Science
4. Sociology
5. Public Administration, etc.
So, don't think that civil services is hard for commerce students and easy for arts graduates.

Basically, there are three branches in IAF:
1. Ground Duty Branches: - Administration, Finance, HR, Educational branches are under this branch. For All branches except finance, graduation with minimum 60% is the eligibility criteria. But for finance department, B.Com / M.Com is mandatory. Minimum marks should be 60%. Age: 20-26.
2. Engineering Branches: - Aeronautical engineering is the main branch. E&C, CSE, IT, A&I, EEE are other branches. Same age restrictions applicable here.
3. Flying Branch: Requires Graduation in any discipline with PCM at class 12th science / technological Graduation preferred. Age: 20-24. Candidates must be unmarried.
Minimum visual standard is must.
So, you can join Indian Air Force Flying Branch. Commercial pilot license will be given at AIF. After the training, candidates may be posted as Pilot in Passenger Flights or Fight Aircraft.
