Actually not, but there are some differences in pattern of exam the level of CAT exam is higher than the level of SSC CGL exam. CAT is more concept worthy examination where are in the SSC CGL speed of your problem solving matters as there are less time. And there are the GK portion too in the SSC CGL which are not in the CAT exam.

Hello,
Make your plan according to the time you can give for the preparation on a daily basis.
Work on your plan and identify your weakness and strength.
Try to plan and identify above stated things within a week. Set your plan agile and keep buffer time for revision and solving mock test papers.
Maintain a good balance between your accuracy and solving time.
Start with your verbal and quantitative practice in parallel.
Keep positive! Solve questions in a specified time frame this will help you in doing questions in time.
Be focused and calm. For the last month keep all the formulas and tricks handy and revise on a daily basis.

Preparation for anything depends on how quickly you learn. There are people who start one year before and some 3 months before the exam date. Personally, for an average student with moderate grasping and commitment towards the test can take 4 to 5 months for proper preparation along with mocks.

Apart from various coaching institutes, you can go through various online test series as they will provide you more practice. Fee structures are different for different institutions.

Hello Abhay,
There is no need to take a year's drop to solely prepare for the CAT exam as it takes around 6-months of diligent preparation to clear CAT. There are still some exams left like CMAT, CET and MAT through which you can get into some reputed B-Schools. However, if your aim is to get admitted into an IIM or a top non-IIM, then only I would advise to take a drop and prepare for CAT. Though you can give the aforementioned exams if you wish. All the best!
