NMAT (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies- Management Aptitude Test) is one of the prestigious management exams of the country, Conducted by the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) for students who wish to take admission in NMIMS Mumbai, NMIMS Hyderabad, and NMIMS Bengaluru.
while CAT Is for admission into IITs and IIMs for management studies . NMIMD dies not accept CAT percentile.
It differs from the CAT in many ways.
1)Marking system:
Like CAT, each question in NMAT is of 3 marks. But unlike CAT, it does not have any negative marking. But NMAT also normalizes your scores depending you paper's difficulty level.
The overall cut-off for NMAT has been 209 marks for almost 3 years now. Also it has sectional cut offs for all the three sections.
QA: about75-80marks
LR: about65-70marks
VA: about55-60marks
2)Sectional timings:
There are three sections in NMAT with each one having different weightage as well as different sectional timings. These are:
QA:48questions, time:60minutes
LR:40questions, time:38minutes
VA:32questions, time:22minutes
3)Syllabus:
NMAT tests you on a larger numbers of topics as compared to CAT, especially in verbal and LR sections.
In verbal section, there are FIB(Fill in the blanks) questions, propositions related questions, synonyms, antonyms as well as an analogy, which are generally not asked in CAT.
In LR section, there are questions on Encoding-Decoding, blood relations, machine learning, clocks as well as half of the questions dedicated to all types of critical reasoning.
So if you are not good at any of these areas, then you will have to work harder at them, as it's not possible to clear the cut-offs without preparing them.
Quant section more or less contains the same topics as that in CAT. So that shouldn't be a worry for you
So, basically with such large variety of topics and lesser time per question, NMAT is almost all about speed.

There is no best book for any subject out there. It all depends on how much you are practicing from it.
However, if I paraphrase your question, some of the most recommended books for MBA Preps are listed below, in order of priority for each subject:
Quantitative Ability:
Quantum CAT by Sarvesh Kumar Vwrma:
The book covers the basics really well and has a lot of practice sets of varying difficulty levels. The book is strongly recommended because of its simplicity, detailed solutions and mix of approaches.
Quantitative Ability for the CAT by Arun Sharma:
Pick this up if you have already completed Quantum CAT, or for some reason, not happy with it.
Verbal Ability:
Verbal Ability for the CAT Sujit Kumar
The most recommended VA book out there. Provides the most detailed solutions and the best approaches for VA in General.
Reading Comprehension for the CAT by Sujit Kumar
Again, probably the best CAT RC specific book out there. Detailed solutions and everything you need to learn the basics of RC Question Types.
RC99 by Aristotle Prep:
A GMAT Specific book containing 99 RCs divided into three difficulty levels ranging from Easy to Medium. Known for detailed analysis and solutions, this is the best book to continue practicing RCs from.
VA and RC for the CAT by Arun Sharma and Meenakshi Upadhyay Sharma:
Same as above.
Novels and Non Fiction:
However, the best way to improve your VA is to improve your comprehension and the best way to do that, is to read a lot.

Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation:
While there are no LR/DI specific books that are recommended in general, the best way to master LR/DI is to refer Past Year CAT papers, Mocks, Previous Papers of Other Management Entrance Exams such as XAT, SNAP etc. You can also refer to our FB group where we frequently post LR/DI questions.
