CAT exam is accepted in India by top MBA colleges in India whereas GMAT exam is for abroad for top MBA colleges.
So, you want to do MBA from top colleges in foreign country then go for GMAT.
If you want to do MBA from India then CAT is the best option.

Let's us first agree on cracking CAT and IIT Advance mains. If you are aiming to seek admission in JEE mains admission in legacy IITs in core branch of engineering then it is tougher in comparison to CAT. Also, if you take number of seats and candidate appearing for entrance exams then JEE advance will be tougher in comparison to CAT. One can clear CAT without any preparations if your IQ and communication skills are exceptional.

You can start preparation for CAT from 2nd year onward. Either you can join a coaching institute or start self and join a good test series to evaluate your performance.

For MBA program, MHCET is must. Next is your CAT score, which may help you to get colleges in Mumbai (SIES, IES, CHETANA, MET, XIMR) as well as Pune.

Yes, it is necessary that you must have atleast 50% in graduation for doing MBA.

Arun Sharma is a better book among the two. You can start practising from the basic problems and then move to average difficulty and more difficult ones.

The chances of selection is not just based on your entrance test marks. The final selection is based on 2 stages. First stage comprises of the score in entrance test weight-age upto 50%, academic performance of 15% and work experience of 5%.
Second stage has GD-PI.
