Both are like same. But choice of MAT is easy. But as per my choice, CAT is better. Because it's more effective than other exams. If you do preparation for CAT, it's useful for other exams.

There is no eligibility criteria to have maths for CAT but the quant section is all about mathematics, logical reasoning. So, you need to be good and fast both on it. To clear your doubts, just take a mock test and then start taking coaching to perform better.

Preparing for CAT exam is not an easy thing. You need to concentrate on each section of the exam by practising some daily activities.For English, you are required to read a lot of stuff and should be able to understand different articles. Quant is full of practice of different topics and mock test is the only way to test your quant skills. Reasoning requires your logic and this can be improved by solving puzzles to improve your logic.The time required totally depends on your dedication.
