Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete their degree in mechanical or marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. You can't opt for IIT directly after 10th. You need to complete 12th standard with Science (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) with a minimum of 75 percent, following which you need to appear for IIT-JEE Mains and IIT-JEE Advanced entrance examination. If you are able to clear the entrance examination with a good score and rank, then you can enrol into IIT.
