I think yes but at the same time you need to be a capable student to bag a job. Companies will always ask for 10th and 12th class marks. However, it varies from company to company as to how much weight-age they give to these marks.

Better to join a good coaching institute as they guides your preparation in a proper way. You can also go for self study, but it needs more dedication and strictly following to the schedule. Coaching will also provide you weekly tests which will ask you to work hard to keep up the performance. IIT needs strong base of basic concepts. Questions are based on basic concepts with varied applications. Variety of problems will help you in making your concepts concrete. Just keep practicing and try to give more and more tests. If you are planning to be a graduate mechanical engineering then you are advised to study PCM at 10+2 stage and appear for engineering entrance examinations. You can also join Diploma in mechanical engineering after 10th and then seek lateral entry admission in B.Tech mechanical engineering. IITs & NITs do not have lateral entry admissions provision therefore if you take Diploma route for mechanical engineering, you will miss options of doing mechanical engineering in best engineering colleges of India.

Hi,
Well, I would recommend you to cover up for these grades with CAT percentile and a stellar CV.
It is advisable to gain enough extra-curricular experience and PORs before joining the institute as your peers will compete with you.
Do not give up on not so good grades. Rather, work through cracking CAT.

If you have interest in technological knowledge than you can go for PCM, if you have interest in finance and accounts than go for commerce. Both have good career opportunities. Both field needs good knowledge of maths. At the end its your interest which stream to go for.

Read the concepts thoroughly and keep revising them. Stick to your course book (NCERT) or state board curriculum. For maths, solve as many problems as you can.
