College life in particular depends on what the college has to offer in terms of:-
1. Faculty.
2. Infrastructure.
3. Sports.
4. Extra curriculars.
5. Atmosphere.
1. Faculty: - Mechanical Engineering Department (MED henceforth) has one of the most profound set of faculty. Most of the lecturers hold a Ph.D or are undergoing one. The credit goes to the HOD who is one of the most brilliant minds in Hyderabad when it comes to mechanical engineering.
The faculty at MED is student friendly as well. They help us and motivate us to be active during college. However, clear emphasis is laid on academics. Attendance is not an issue. (Attendance is strict in other departments whereas it's not so in MED)
In most of the colleges across Hyderabad, you would find that most of the faculty is in the profession of teaching due to a lack of opportunities. This is not so in MED of CBIT. I can count easily 10-11 lecturers who have taught me and are really passionate about teaching and introduce the subject in a really exciting way.
2. Infrastructure:-Now here lies the problem in MED. Most of the machinery they use is outdated. They can be dated back to 1979 when the college was established. The scenario is same for civil engineering department and chemical engineering department as well.
This is one thing where the college lacks. However, the library is pretty good with journals and good amount of books.
3. Sports: - You are given the freedom of pursuing any sport of your choice but the problem is that the college does not offer all of them. There is volleyball, basketball, badminton (wooden courts), table tennis, cricket, football, etc. Indoor games like carrom and chess are also available.
Girls can play throw ball and tennikoit as well. The college is decent in sports when it comes to competitions in Hyderabad. However, the same cannot be said for national level inter college tournaments.
