You need to have a Bachelors degree in respective subjects like Botany, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences in Science stream. So, yes, you are eligible to apply.

Engineering will be helpful than M.Sc. You will find a lot of opportunities and practical experience in B.Tech rather than M.Sc but B.Tech is not a good option, you should go for M.Sc first then direct M.Tech in chemical engineering as M.Tech requires Master's degree or 4-year engineering programme. Graduates from a recognized college with Science stream are eligible for the course. There is usually no age limit to join the course. Admission test is carried out for granting admission in the course. Only those students who pass in this entrance test will be given admission. First of all, look for all the basics of your graduation days and in all areas. And, then check for previous year question papers, solve them all. It will help you understanding the pattern and at last try to give as much mock test as you can.
