After Chemistry, all the general career options are open, like banking/Civil Services/Teaching/government jobs, etc. But, as you are a chemistry student and want to make your career future in chemistry only, then the options are different, like you can apply for Industries (where demand of chemists is always high), you can qualify GATE with high rank and can get into PSUs like ONGC, BHEL, etc. and can earn a handsome salary. You can also go in field of scientific research by qualifying CSIR-NET exam and can pursue your career as a Scientist or Professor.

Just go through your chemistry basics- inorganic, organic and physical. You really don't need any special textbooks. From my own experience, I'd say Bachelor level chemistry knowledge is enough to crack the exam, plus general mathematics, logic and reasoning.
