The answer is very simple, more stable is the conjugate base stronger will be the acid.
R-O- is less stable ,due to +I effect of alkyl group, due to the intensification of charge.
Since -OH - > -OR - , hence water is more acidic than alcohols.

CO is a stronger ligand than Cl ion because CO has the double bond in between and has strong positively charged and negatively charged ends whereas Cl ion has one negative charge and positive inductive effect.
