The AICTE's new handbook implies that students need not study Physics Chemistry and Maths to get into an engineering college. Simply put, even students from the Commerce and Arts streams, studying subjects such as Marketing, Floriculture and Food preparation, are now eligible for admission into engineering institutes.

For government colleges you can go with IIT's and NITs.

Popular entrance exams for Diploma in civil engineering are
- MH-CET
- LPUNEST
- WBJEE
- UKSEE
- UPSEE
Most of these exams are state level. Yoi appear for one of these state level engineering exams. Also, you can make list of engineering colleges and appear for their entrance. Popular colleges for civil engineering are Jamia, AMU, BVDU, State engineering colleges and LPU, etc.
