If you want to do a civil service doesn't matter which stream you take, you should be graduate with any subjects, there is nothing to be particular about any stream. You can choose to study BA ( not necessarily) if you plan to appear for IAS. It is more important to choose the correct combination in alignment with your optional subject for the IAS exam. Studying subjects like History, Geography and any one language ( English would be more beneficial) would make IAS preparation more easy and impactful. You can join any coaching along with your graduation for 3-4 years. It will enhance your preparation. You can also take online coaching. Continuous and regular preparation of 3-4 years is enough to crack IAS. Best wishes.

Along with the job, it will take time to prepare for IAS. You can take the help of a coaching institute/ experienced person for preparation along with the regular self-study of 3-4 hr for 1-2 year. It is about time management as many IIM passes out have cracked IAS along with job.
