Dayanand College, Hisar owes its existence to the dream, vision and missionary zeal of a selfless and distinguished educationist Late Lala Gian Hand Mahajan, later christened as Swami Munishwaranand. A teacher by profession, a social crusader by inclination and a saint by temperament, Lala Gian Hand Mahajan shaped the destiny of this institution for the first nine formative years as its Principal. Drawing upon his life-long experience as a teacher and later as a Principal of D. A. V. College, Jalandhar, a premier college of North India, Lala Gian Hand laid the firm foundations of this nursery of higher education and put it on sound footing.
