Jadavpur University maintains a very strict policy of reservations, where 90% of the total engineering seats are reserved for students who hold a domicile certificate of West Bengal. Rest 10% of seats are for students from the rest of India under the All-India quota. Such high percentage of reservations for home-state students makes the competition for the All-India seats incredibly high.

The university offers 1,355 seats for the BE course, distributed across 16+ departments. The maximum student intake is offered in the "core" departments: Mechanical Engineering (148 seats), Electrical Engineering (148 seats), and Civil Engineering (147 seats). The seat matrix is planned in a way that the departments are supported by adequate lab facilities and faculty expertise.

At the time of admission, the students need to pay a fee of INR 39,000, which is a one-time payment that includes the uniform charges as well as the security deposit, which is refundable. Pay the fees online during the counselling process.

The total fee for the BTech programme in AIT is 2,31,030 INR. This fee also includes the employability training which helps students sharpen their skills, whether technical or professional, to secure good jobs through campus placements.

Yes, all first-year students must stay in the campus hostel. The hostel and mess fees are amounting to INR 1,13,700. The purpose of such an accommodation is to enable the first-year students to get accustomed to the disciplined environment of the military style of functioning and also promote bonding among the students. On campus living facilitates students to participate in the evening workshop, study, and extracurricular activities.

AIT has a structured intake of 480 seats, spread across the five branches of engineering that the college specialises in. The limited intake ensures that the student-to-faculty ratio is well managed, allowing students the best of individual attention and laboratory facilities. 

There are no traditional caste-based or socio-economic reservations for these courses. Since the institute is exclusively for the wards of Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel, no other reservation is entertained. This ensures that kids of armed forces uniformed personnel have a dedicated space to pursue high-quality engineering education. 

Seat distribution at AIT is as follows:

• Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics & Telecommunication: 120 seats each
• Mechanical Engineering, Automation & Robotics Engineering: 60 seats each.
