NIELIT Kolkata considers entrance exam score for admission to O/A/B level courses. NIELT conducts an entrance exam at national-level to shortlist candidates. The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology exam is conducted twice a year in January and July. Candidates can get an option in Hindi or English as choice of medium.

The O, A and B level courses are equivalent to foundation-level, advance Diploma level and MCA level courses, respectively. These courses are recognised by MHRD for the purpose of employment. The selection for O, A and B Level courses is based on NIELIT Entrance Exam scores.
