To reach NIT Surathkal you can reach by:

  • Getting off at Mangalore International Airport which is about 30 minute drive away from the campus
  • The Surathkal Railway Station is 10-minute drive from NITK campus
  • Busses are also available.

NIT Surathkal grants admission to two MSc courses based on candidates' performance in the IIT JAM entrance exam, followed by the CCMN counselling process. For 2025 admission, the Round 1 closing ranks varied between 868 and 920 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. Of all the MSc specialisations, the one with the lowest cutoff rank of 868 was the MSc in Chemistry. For other specialisations along with their GATE CCMN first-round closing ranks, check out the table provided below:

There isn't a universally "better" option between Bangalore and Mangalore for pursuing an Allied Medical course. The choice depends on individual priorities and what aspects of the programme are most important. Bangalore offers a larger selection of institutions, a vibrant environment, potentially more career opportunities, while Mangalore might provide a more focused, smaller-scale learning experience.

You can get CSE in GFTI as per the JoSSA counselling cutoff last year. You cannot get any branch, like CSE, ECE in NIT at this rank.
