The Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology (TPGIT) provides a range of scholarships to students, especially those from low-income families. The college offers merit-based rewards in addition to scholarships offered by government programs like the Tamil Nadu Government Scholarship. Nevertheless, not every student is usually awarded a 100% scholarship. Typically, scholarships pay for a portion of living expenses or tuition.

Students typically think that the food in the hostel meal at Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology is of a satisfactory quality. Vegetarian food alternatives abound in the mess, and students receive reasonably priced daily lunches. Though there could be sporadic comments about the taste and variety, the food is nutrient-dense. A good dining experience is ensured by making an effort to enhance the menu in response to student comments.

At Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology (TPGIT), the selection criteria for B.E./B.Tech programs are determined by the candidate's performance in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling. Merit-based admissions decisions are made using the grades earned in Class 12 (Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics). During the counseling procedure, preference is given to candidates with better scores. The cutoff criteria for students in the reserved category may be loosened.

You must be eligible for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) and hold an appropriate undergraduate degree in order to enroll in postgraduate courses. Admission to VIT is primarily based on entrance exams for different programs:

1. B.Tech: It is a privilege to be admitted to this university therefore admissions are through VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Exam). Positions less than 20,000 rank assure a candidate a position in the core branches.

2. MBA: The entrance test scores accepted are CAT/XAT/MAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA. A percentile above 75 is good.

3. M.Tech: Depending on the performance obtained in VITMEE or GATE both are acceptable.
