Because you have Mechanical background, so it is preferred to pursue higher degree courses according to your background. So, B.Tech Mechanical through Lateral entry scheme can be the best option.

B.Sc. or Diploma in Mechanical/ Automobile are eligible to apply for STA-B. However, you need to hide your degree while applying for the asked post. Because candidates having higher degree like Ph.D/ M.Sc/ B.Tech/ B.E. Etc. will not be considered for recruitment.

Madras University is good option, For admission you have to pass the TANCET examination, and if you want to do part time, then TANCET is not required. But still you can try N number of college as you are in Chennai, There are at least 150 Colleges which provides MBA courses, you can try various college at a time then research about them and shortlist top 10 and then look for teachers and student behaviour and teaching and you have top 5 to choose.
