IILM University, Gurugram aims to provide the best to its students.
There are fashion labs with sewing machines, draping mannequins, and fabric libraries.
Product design labs have 3D printers, laser cutters, wood/metal tools.
Mac labs are stacked with Adobe Suite, CAD, and design software.
There's even a photography studio with proper lighting setups.
Here students don't just“learn” about tools, they actually get to use them regularly.

Fashion Designing entrance exam syllabus and weightage is different for each exam but some common subjects on which you're tested are Design Principles, Fashion Illustration and Drawing, Textile Science and Technology, Garment Construction and Pattern Making and Design Thinking.
You also need to have good knowledge of current affairs and fashion trends in industry and must be good at English and analytical intelligence.

Each course syllabus has a good portion of theoretical modules taught in classroom lectures, but the Interior Design syllabus is heavier on theory as it includes knowledge of architectural history, building codes, and structural engineering principles, while the Fashion Design syllabus has a strong bent towards practical applications for garment construction and styling.
No doubt you will study about the history of fashion, traditional and modern fashion designing, and other trends in the Fashion Design course syllabus; the focus would be more on its practical, hands-on applications.

It is not at all compulsory to give an entrance exam for admission to Communication Design courses at the UG level. You will find several design institutes that give admission on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks and take into account extra rounds like GD, PI or portfolio submission.
But in the case of PG Communication Design entrance exams, the admission is majorly based on valid entrance exam scores.

The required preparation for Communication Design entrance exams cannot be said with any certainty as it totally depends on the particular exam that you're planning to appear for.
Generally, you should start your preparation at least 4 to 6 months before the exam date so that you have a good amount of time to cover the syllabus, have a look at last year's question papers, practice mock tests, and revise in the last month to score well.
Good Luck!
