GATE Eligibility

Students applying for GATE 2024 can opt for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear in only one subject. As a candidate is allowed to appear in only two papers (only approved set) of the 29 papers for which the GATE 2024 will be conducted, they have to carefully make a choice of the papers they wish to write. A candidate is expected to appear in the papers appropriate to the discipline of his or her qualifying degree. However, he or she is free to choose any paper according to his or her admission plan, keeping in mind the GATE eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he or she wishes to seek admission. Eligibility Criteria: A student who has already completed any government-approved degree programme in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, and Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE exam.
