For SSC CGL, Tier 1 and Tier 2 are generally held with a gap of 1 to 2 weeks of time between them. However, this might differ as per the official notification and the year.

Tier 1 is an online objective test lasting 60 minutes. It is comprised of 100 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
Tier 2 is a higher test, which is divided into a series of papers, and for each paper the duration is about 2 hours. The posts to which they apply determine how many papers they take.
