 Yes, it is mandatory to carry UPPSC admit card to the examination centre. Without the UPPSC admit card, candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. UPPCS Exam Centres 2025

The number of UPPCS exam centres are notified in the official notification. The UPPCS prelims exam will be conducted at all major districts in the state. The UPPSC main exam will be conducted at three exam centres only. Both exams are conducted in offline mode.

Q:   How many exam centres are there for UPPCS main exam?

There are three exam centres for UPPSC main exam. The Commission conduct the UPPSC Main exam in three cities only. These cities are Prayagraj, Lucknow and Ghaziabad. The Ghaziabad is added lately after the demand of the candidates. The UPPSC main exam is a descriptive type exam conducted offline.

The UPPSC Prelims exam is conducted in 51 districts across the state.

UPPCS 2025 Educational Qualification

The candidate must be a graduate to appear in the UPPSC PCS exam 2025. The candidates who will appear in their graduation degree exam can also appear in the exam but they need to submit their final year mark sheet at the time of the UPPCS main exam Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission.

UPPCS Age Limit

The common age limit for all the positions is:

  • Minimum Age limit - 21 years
  • Maximum Age Limit - 40 years (on July 1 of the exam year)

The candidates born before July 2, 1985, and after July 1, 2004, will not be eligible to appear in the UPPSC 2025 exam.

Q:   What qualification is required to become a UPPCS officer?
A: 
The qualification required to become a PCS officer is a Graduate degree from any recognised university or institution. The Commission releases the notification every year and mentions that the educational qualification required to become a PCS officer is a graduate. There is no minimum percentage mentioned for the candidates. It implies that the candidates having any percentage in the Graduation degree can apply for the UPPCS exam. All the candidates who are Graduate and confirm to the age criteria can apply for the UPPSC PCS exam.
Q:   How many attempts are there in UPPCS Exam?
A: 
The candidates need not to worry about the number of attempts in the UPPSC PCS exam because there is no limit to the number of attempts in the exam. The candidates can appear in the UPPSC PCS exam till they confirm to the age limit criteria as prescribed in the official notification. The upper age limit is the only restriction for applying. The upper age limit for the General Category candidates is 40 years. The Commission also provide age relaxation to the reserved category candidates.

UPPSC UPPCS Exam Pattern 2025

The UPPCS exam has three stages selection process and the candidates must pass all three stages of the UPPCS exam to qualify for the exam. The stages of the selection process are given below.

1. UPPCS Prelims Exam
The prelims exam is the first stage of the UPPCS selection process. UPPSC conducts the prelims exam across the state in offline mode and around eight lakh candidates appear in this exam. Last year, the UPPSC UPPCS prelims question paper was not in consonance with the previous year's papers. There are two papers in the UPPCS prelims exam that are mentioned below:

  • UPPCS Prelims General Studies Paper - 1
  • UPPCS Prelims General Studies Paper - 2 (CSAT)

2. UPPCS Main (written) Exam

The optional subject from the UPPCS PCS main exam has been removed. The Government approved the proposal of removing the optional subject and instead of it, two papers will be introduced in the UPPSC main exam 2025. The UPPSC UPPCS main exam pattern can be summarised as follows:

UPPCS Personality Test (Viva Voce)

The personality test is the last stage of the UPPSC UPPCS exam. The commission has assigned 100 marks to the personality test, which makes it an important factor in deciding the final rank. The personality test revolves around current events and the Detail Application Form (DAF) filled out at the time of the main exam. 

The UPPSC conducts the personality test in the commission’s office premises and the candidates need to go to Prayagraj for the personality test. After the personality test, the UPPSC results will be declared. It will pave the way for the selection.

Q:   Is the UPPSC PCS Main exam pattern changed?

No, the UPPSC PCS main exam pattern was not changed but the Commission removed the Optional subject from the main exam and introduced the General Studies Paper 5 and 6. These papers will ask the Uttar Pradesh specific topics and questions related to the local folklore of the state.

Q:   How many papers are there in the UPPSC PCS Main Exam?

There are 8 question papers in the UPPSC PCS main exam. All the papers are compulsory and the marks secured in all the papers are counted for the final merit. The UPPSC Main exam is a descriptive type exam where the candidates are required to write conventional essay type answers in the answer sheet provided by the Commission. In UPPSC prelims exam, there are two question papers where the second paper is qualifying only and the UPPCS Prelims General Studies paper 1 marks are calculated for the merit list.

UPPCS 2025 Syllabus

The Commission notifies the official syllabus in the notification every year. UPPSC Syllabus is kin to the UPSC syllabus now. The prelims exam is conducted on the same lines as conducted by UPSC. Q:   What are the core subjects in the UPPSC PCS Prelims Syllabus?

Earlier, the total number of subjects in the UPPSC PCS exam is 29 including four literature subjects. The candidates were required to select one of the optional subjects from the list. The General Studies, Hindi, and Essay paper were compulsory to all the candidates. The Commission should do the answer writing practice during preparation.

UPPSC 2023 Main exam will be conducted from September 26 based on the new syllabus and exam pattern.

Q:   How much time will it take to cover the UPPSC PCS Syllabus?

UPPSC PCS syllabus can be covered in 1 to 1.5 years time with a consistent effort. The UPPSC toppers and mentors always suggest covering the UPPSC PCS main syllabus first. Most of the topics are common for the prelims and main exam. The candidates are suggested to prepare the UPPCS syllabus in a integrated manner.

The candidates should start preparing with the NCERT Books and then go for the standard reference books.

UPPCS Cut Off

The UPPSC PCS 2024 cutoff will be released online for all the categories and posts separately. It will be released after the declaration of the final result. The Commission does not release the cutoff with the result. The release of the UPPSC PCS cutoff can be considered the last step of the exam process. 

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission released the UPPSC PCS 2023 cutoff for the prelims and main exam for all the categories and groups. The Commission released the UPPSC Cutoff under the candidates' login. The Commission releases the UPPSC PCS cutoff only after the completion of the exam process. The Commission releases the category-wise UPPCS cutoff for all the groups. Q:   Are NCERT books sufficient for the UPPSC Exam Preparation?
A: 

No, only NCERT books are not sufficient for the UPPSC exam preparation. The NCERT books can provide an introduction to the topic but they do not dive into details because they are written as per the syllabus of Class IX to XII. However, in the UPPSC exam, the topics need to be covered in their entirety.

The candidates should know all the subtopics of that topic. The candidates should complete the NCERT books within a week of starting them.

Q:   Is Lucent enough for the UPPSC exam preparation?

Only Lucent General Knowlegde book is not enough for the UPPSC exam but it is a good book for revision purpose.
