Candidates are required to fill the details of a valid Photo ID card in the application which they are required to bring in original as identity proof during CBT, PET, DV, Medical or any subsequent stages of exam. The valid Photo ID Card should be any one of the following:

  • Voter Card
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Printout of e-Aadhaar (not Photostat/Scanned copy of Aadhaar)
  • Driving License
  • PAN card
  • Passport
  • Identity Card issued by the employer in case the candidate is a Govt. employee
  • College / University Photo ID card, if still studying

The Union Public Service Commission conduct the IES prelims exam in offline mode. The Commission prepares the IES answer key and compare the answers of the candidates with it. With comparing, the Commission calculate the marks of the candidates by awarding 2 marks for each correct question and deducting 0.6 marks for each incorrect answer.

The Commission arrange the candidates in order of their merit in their category. The items that are banned inside the RRB Group D exam centres are Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, blue tooth, pen drive, laptops, calculators,  wrist watches or any other communication devices or pen/pencil, wallet/purses, belts, shoes and metallic wears including ornaments etc. Any infringement of this instruction shall entail summary rejection besides legal action including debarment from future examinations. Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones etc. to the venue of the examination.

Few important points regarding RRB Group D exam centres are given below:

  • RRB Group D exam centres are allotted to candidates as per their choice
  • The examination authority reserves the right to allot RRB Group D exam centres
  • RRBs reserve the right to cancel or add exam centres
  • The details of exam centres will be mentioned in RRB Group D admit card
  • RRBs will not entertain any requests regarding the change in exam centres

The Union Public Service Commission releases the IES cutoff after the declaration of the final result. The Commission do not release the answer key and cutoff with the prelims result. The candidates can download the IES 2024 cutoff in the following manner:

  • Go to the official website of UPSC – upsc.gov.in
  • Click on the ‘Examination’ tab given at the top
  • A drop list will appear, Click on the Cutoff link appearing on the list
  • The ESE Cutoff PDF link will appear in the list
  • Click on the link and get the ESE cutoff for all the categories and phases

The IES 2024 Cutoff PDF will be available here after its official release.

Yes, there is negative marking in the IES prelims exam. The Union Public Service Commission mention the quantum of negative marking in the official notification. The Commission also mentions the total mark of the question paper and the structure of the exam such as how many questions will be asked in the paper.

The Commission also mention the negative marketing as the following:

The penalty for the incorrect answer is one-third of the total marks assigned to the correct answer. The Commission assigns 2 marks for the correct answer. Hence, 0.66 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
