A total of six departments are there at HPU and these include Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communication, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Department of Information Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities.

HPU offers scholarships as financial aid based on Economically backward category to students who belong to categories such as BPL for continuing their higher education. Sports scholarship to 16 students belonging from the teaching department for outstanding performance in sports, and cultural activity scholarship is awarded to 10 students for their performance in academic and cultural activities.

Admissions to the undergraduate programme are based on Class 12 for a few courses, and for a few courses, it is based on the scores obtained in the qualifying exam as mentioned on the website. For BAMS course, the entrance exam accepted is NEET. Similarly, for BTech course admissions, the entrance exam accepted is JEE Main and HPCET. But for courses such as B.Ed, BSc, BA, among others, candidates need to pass Class 12 with a minimum of 45-50% aggregate.

The HPU fees for BTech course ranges between INR 2.1 lakh- INR 3.6 lakh. The duration for this course is four years. Moreover, for HPU BTech admissions, candidates also need to fulfil the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for HPU BTech admissions is that candidate should have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 45-50% aggregate. The entrance exams accepted include JEE Main and HPCET. Further, candidates can apply by filling the application form which is available on the official website.

Himachal Pradesh University provides various modern amenities with state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students. The facilities provided by the university includes 14 hostels, a faculty house, and an Auditorium that seats 800 persons, playground, a post office, bank, ATM, cyber cafes, eateries, transport and shops. Moreover, HPU has administrative Block, Examination Block, Pre-Examination Coaching Centre for SC/ ST/ OBC/ Minorities, Medical and Health Centre, ICDEOL Building, and Human Resource Development Centre.

HPU is the only institute in Himachal Pradesh and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The highest and average package offered was INR 8.10 LPA and INR 6 LPA during HPU placements 2022. Also, many famous personalities like Anupam Kher, Priti Zinta, Randeep Guleria, etc. Have passed out form Himachal Pradesh University. Additionally, the university also provides both merit and need-based scholarships to the their students. To conclude, one can say that HPU is a good college for admissions.
