To become a chef you must have a professional culinary training. To start your career as a chef you must complete your class X to join the Diploma Course in Food Craft. In order to opt for a degree course in Culinary Arts one must complete 10+2 in any stream.

Part time courses in HM are not very effective as you miss on the practical required in the field. However incase you just wish to gain a qualification then you may opt for the same.

The popular govt college is IHM pusa road.The IHM is a government sponsored college and the fee structure are generally in the affordable bracket however the details are mentioned in the link below:

The eligibility depends on the type of course that you wish to pursue , the details of some courses is stated below:
Diploma –Class 10th pass from a recognised board with minimum 40% marks.
Bachelor's Degree: Class 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks.
Post-graduation degree: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks.
Graduate & PG programs may also require you to appear in entrance exams such as NCHMCT,AIMA UGAT, E-CHAT etc.

IHMs are govt institutes and IIHM is a private institute. Not all the IHMs are as good as IIHM but the top 10–15 IHMs are still better than IIHM. IHM will cost you a lot lesser than IIHM.IHM has better placement
