Hi, I would say that you will get the opportunities of placement, if you pursue B.A. Journalism Honors from Christ University, Bangalore. But, whether you will able to achieve that opportunity or not, it completely depends upon you. This university is good for two types of courses, one is management and one is fine arts. Yes, there is no age restriction in IGNOU for choosing any course. To pursue Bachelors in commerce basic requirement is 10+2 from any recognized university. You can definitely apply here.

Hi,
Any degree from recognized university can apply for UPSE. You have to work hard as IAS is a public service, you have to analyses the humanity subject well. IAS exam is the top competing exam, you have to study everything. If you are excellent in engineering subject, you can choose that as your optional. You can also choose other subjects like:
1. Public administration.
2. History.
3. Geography.
4. Political Science.
5. Economics.
6. Mathematics.
7. Sociology.
8. Philosophy, etc.

Honestly, according to the graph analysis of degree background related to IAS qualifiers, its a highly heterogeneous data, Degree in any stream hardly matters when it comes to pursuing IAS exam but yes if you wish to lower your burden to some 20% you may go for B.A. As that will help you make a basic interest and foundation to read subjects related to IAS exam in vast. But personally, IAS exam is not degree or stream or merit oriented; the pure mantra is long sitting hours, long reading hours and the retaining power!
Any degree in any stream is anyhow going to help you for optional subject choice while in IAS Mains exam. Good Luck!
