The The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) offers the following specializatins for the B.Des program:
1. Hard Material Design
2. Soft Material Design
3. Fired Material Design
4. Fashion Clothing Design
5. Jewellery Design
6. Crafts Communication
Admission to the above courses wil be on the basis of IICD 2025 merit rank.

The participating institutes of IICD 2025 currently has an intake of 180 seats for the B.Des program. Admission to these seats will be strictly based on IICD 2025 merit rank.
The candidate can select their specialization at the time of counseling and seat allotment. Once a seat has been allocated, the candidate will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee to confirm it.

Admission is offered to UG and PG programmes through IICD entrance exam scores. These UG and PG programmes include B.Des, M.Des, and M.Voc, certificates and diplomas.

Yes, the candidate had to bring with them a few of their best works as samples that can be displayed at the time of the personal interview. Items that can be displayed incude - sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, etc.
Note that candidates will be shortlisted for the portfolio round based on their performance in the written exam.
Also, for preparing the final results, weightage will be given both to the written exam and the portfolio.

- Aptitude to crafts
- Intelligence quotient (IQ)
- Communication Ability
- General Awareness about Crafts & Design
- Overall Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

The IICD 2026 entrance exam has the components given below.
- Part A - General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test
- Part B - a. Material, Color & Conceptual Test, b. Personal Interview
- Part C - Personal Interview
It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the stages of the IICD 2025 entrance exam. If the candidate misses out on any of the above exams, he or she will not be included in the IID 2025 merit list, which will be used for counseling and seat allotment.

IICD 2026 Applications will begin in November - December 2025. Applications have to be filled by candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. The last date for filling the application form will be in January 2026. Candidates who successfully fill out the application form can download the admit cards for IICD 2026 once it is released.

IICD 2026 entrance exam will be conducted in the last week of January 2026. The exam will have three parts - Part A - General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test and, Part B – a. Material, Color & Conceptual Test, b. Personal Interview, and C. Personal Interview.

No, you don't have to write IICD exam to get admission in NIFT. NIFT has its own entrance exam that determines your admission in the institute. You can find the details here https://www.shiksha.com/design/exams/nift-entrance-exam.
