The Indian Institute of Craft and Design (IICD): IICD Registration is open for B.Des and M.Des programmes. The registration fee for IICD Entrance Examination 2025 is Rs. 1750/-. IICD Admit Card cum question paper will be available for download from the official website. The IICD Entrance exam will be conducted online.

In order to confirm the admission, the candidate must pay the fee through the fee portal. If the candidate fails to pay the fee, his seat will be cancelled. Once the fee is sucessfully paid, an email will be sent to the registered email ID.

What is IICD Entrance Exam?

The Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur, was established in 1995 by the Government of Rajasthan as an autonomous institution to serve as a driving force for transformation in the craft sector. Since October 2007, the institute has been operated and funded by the Ambuja Educational Institute (AEI) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. IICD aims at revitalizing the craft sector and aspires to become a Centre of Excellence in Crafts and Design. It aims to foster research and breathe new life into India's traditional and declining crafts.

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) conducts the IICD entrance exam based on which candidates are provided admission to UG and PG design courses offered by the institute under the aegis of Rajasthan ILD Skills University (RISU). The entrance exam is usually administered multiple times a year. The IICD exam scores will be considered for admission to the 4-year B.Des, 2-year  M.Des, and 3-year M.Voc programs offered by the institute.

Q:   Does the IICD entrance exam candidate need to bring a portfolio with them?
A: 

Yes, the candidate had to bring with them a few of their best works as samples that can be displayed at the time of the personal interview. Items that can be displayed incude - sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, etc. 

Note that candidates will be shortlisted for the portfolio round based on their performance in the written exam. 

Also, for preparing the final results, weightage will be given both to the written exam and the portfolio.

You can make sample papers a part of your exam preparation very early in your preparation cycle.

How to fill out the IICD 2025 Application form?

To apply, the candidate has to follow these steps:

  1. Click on the application form
  2. In the registration form that opens, enter your registration details
  3. On successful registration, a candidate account will be created
  4. Fill in all the fields - personal, academic, and contact details
  5. Pay the exam fee. The online application fee (Non Refundable) of Rs. 1750/- for Indian Nationals and SAARC nationals, and for Foreign Nationals, the online application fee (Non Refundable) of Rs. 3500/- 
  6. Submit the duly completed application form.

Q:   What is the seat intake for B.Des program at IICD entrance exam participating institutes?
A: 

The participating institutes of IICD 2025 currently has an intake of 180 seats for the B.Des program. Admission to these seats will be strictly based on IICD 2025 merit rank.

The candidate can select their specialization at the time of counseling and seat allotment. Once a seat has been allocated, the candidate will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee to confirm it.

Q:   What are the various courses for which admission is offered through IICD entrance exam?
A: 

The scores of the IICD 2025 entrance exam will be considered for admission to the following courses: 4-year B.Des, 2-year M.Des, and 3-year M.Voc courses. Admission to these courses will be based on the IICD 2025 entrance exam scores. 

When filling out the application form, the candidate needs to ensure that he or she meets the prescribed eligibility critria. Note that those not meeting the prescribed criteria will be disqualified.

Candidates need to thoroughly go through the eligibility criteria for UG and PG courses when they are applying for IICD admissions. 

Eligibility Criteria for IICD UG Courses

  • IICD entrance exam eligibility criteria for admission in UG courses are such that candidates need to pass Class XII in any stream from a recognised board.
  • Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply for the design entrance exam. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional, subject to submitting the required eligibility certificates by the stipulated date mentioned by IICD.
  • In case any candidate fails to submit the required certificates by the stipulated date, his/her admission to IICD will be cancelled. In such a scenario, IICD admission fees paid by the candidate for the first semester will not be refunded, according to the official website.

Eligibility Criteria for IICD PG Courses

  • All candidates should have graduated from a recognised university with a Design and Architecture background. The official website of the institute informs, "Candidates who are Design/ Architecture graduates can be directly admitted to the 2-year MVoc programme after clearing the entrance test."
  • It may be noted that candidates who have graduated from a discipline other than Design and Architecture are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates will be "eligible for MVoc after completion of 1 Year PG foundation offered at IICD, which means MVoc will be 3 years for non-design background graduates," informs the official website.

Note: Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply for the design entrance exam. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional, subject to submitting the required eligibility certificates by the stipulated date mentioned by IICD. In case any candidate fails to submit the required certificates by the stipulated date, his/her admission at IICD will be cancelled. In such a scenario, IICD admission fees paid by the candidate for the first semester will not be refunded, according to the official website.

Q:   What is the reporting time for IICD exam?
A: 

The admit card will include the date and timings of the IICD exam, including the exam center reporting time.

You need to reach the exam centre as per the reporting time. Note that once the exam commences, no candidate will be allowed inside the exam hall.

So, reach the exam center on time.

Q:   What will be the exam pattern of IIAD exam?
A: 

The IIAD 2025 exam has two parts - IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) and Studio Simulation. However, those seeking admission to Fashion Management courses need to appear in the IIAD Management Aptitude Test (iMAT) and Interview. The exam will be conducted in online and on-campus modes.

The candidate needs to strictly follow the exam pattern when preparing for the exam.

Q:   Do I need to carry any photo ID proof in IICD exam?
A: 

Exam officials will check the documents carried by the candidate. Only such candidates who bring their ID card and admit card will be allowed inside the exam hall.

So,, you need to bring a valid photo ID proof on exam day. 

The id proof must be displayed when the invigilator asks for it. You also need to bring the admit card and follow the exam guidelines.

Q:   When is the draft answer key of IICD exam expected to be released?
A: 

IICD 2025 exam officials will not release any draft answer key.

Conseuqently, there will be no answer key challenge window.

The exam officice declare IICD 2025 exam results on its admission portal. Candidates can check their results by logging into the result portal.

Q:   Am I allowed to carry electronic gadgets inside the IICD exam hall?
A: 

IICD exam 2025 doesn't allow the candidate to carry electronic gadgets inside the exam venue.

Also, if a candidate is found in possession of such items, he or she may be disqualified from the IICD exam. 

So, don’t carry such barred items into the exam hall.

Go through the exam guidelines given in the IICD admit card.

Q:   What details will be included in draft answer key of IICD 2025 exam?
A: 

The exam officials will not release any draft answer key of IICD exam 2025.

However, if it decides to release the answer key, the same will be updated here.

In case the draft key is released, it will contain details like the answer key code for each question.

The candidate will also be allowed to challenge the draft key in some cases.

The admission process for IICD starts with the filling out of the application form. The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) will release the detailed schedule for the exam at the time of the release of the application form/ notification.

Step 1: Fill IICD entrance exam application form

For IICD entrance exam registration, candidates first need to fill out the IICD application form in online mode on the official website of the college. The IICD entrance exam application form includes sections such as a candidate’s personal details, education details, and address. The IICD entrance exam application fee is non-refundable.

Step 2: Get the IICD entrance exam admit card

After successful IICD entrance exam registration, IICD admit cards are emailed to candidates on their registered email IDs. 

On exam day, candidates need to bring a printout of the admit card, with a self-attested recent passport-size photo pasted on the admit card. In addition, candidates also need to carry an original photo ID proof to the IICD entrance exam center.

Step 3: Appear for IICD entrance exam

Along with the admit card, candidates will also be emailed the IICD Entrance Exam question paper. Candidates need to fill in the answers on a Word document/PDF and submit the same along with the portfolio. "The portfolio should be a compilation of the candidate’s own creative work. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, models, explorations with materials, creative writing, etc., may be included in the portfolio," reads the official website. Once candidates submit their portfolios, they need to appear for a personal interview round in an online mode. 

Earlier, in order to appear for IICD entrance exam, candidates needed to give two written design tests and a personal interview. While both the written tests will aim at judging the general awareness and design aptitude of candidates, questions in the personal interview round will judge the IQ and personal achievements of candidates.

Step 4: Check the IICD Entrance Exam Result

IICD admissions will be done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in the written test, portfolio round, and personal interview round. After conducting the tests and the personal interview round, the college will declare the IICD entrance exam result on its official website.

Q:   When will the application forms for NID 2025 be released?
A: 

NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.

The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges. 

The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.

The NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2025 application form open?
A: 

The online application form for NIFT 2025 is closed.

With regular fees, the application was open from November 22-January 6, 2025. With late fees, applications were accepted from Janaury 7-9, 2025.

The application was available online at niftadmissions.in. The NTA also released the detailed admission notification, including the eligibility criteria and information brochure.

Candidates who met the precribed eligibility criteria for their programme could fill out the NIFT 2025 application form before the last date.

Note that NIFT application form will be for admission to the B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses offered by participating colleges.

Q:   When do I need to start my preparation for NIFT 2026 exam?
A: 

The NIFT exam is among the competitive and is also considered among the toughest. So, it is recommended that the candidate starts their exam preparation early. NIFT exam has various components like written exam and Situation Test /Personal Interview. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses need to prepare for both the CAT and GAT. The CAT is a drawing-based exam. Now unless the candidate is already well-versed, the exam will be very difficult. So, start early. The same goes for the GAT.

The candidate had to select an exam center for the IICD exam at the time of filling out the online application form. The IICD exam was conducted in the following 16 cities.

The official website informs, "The candidate can indicate his/her choices of 3 (three) Test centers in order of preference." Details like exam center reporting time will be mentioned on the IICD admit card.

Q:   When will the NID DAT 2026 Prelims exam be conducted?
A: 

The National Institute of Design (NID) is expected to conduct the DAT Prelims exam in the first week of January 2026.

The B.Des exam will be held around 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held around 10 am - 12.30 am. The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates' closing time is 9.30 am. 

The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may include both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc., will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.

The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

Q:   How do I check my IICD exam result?
A: 

Admission officials will release the results of IICD exam 2025 online at the admission portal of the institute. 

To check your results, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the admission portal of the institute
  2. Click on the result link

  3. A log-in window will open

  4. Enter your log-in credentials

  5. On log-in, you can download the scorecard.

Download and take a printout of the scorecard.

Q:   What is the validity of IICD exam scorecard?
A: 

The scorecard will be valid for the current academic session only. So, using the scorecard, you will be able to get admission in the 2025-25 academic session.

You can’t use the scorecard for admission in the next session.

Q:   Who can participate in the WWI Personal Interview?
A: 

Candidates who qualify in the WWI 2025 written exam will next have to appear in a Personal Interview. The list of eligible candidates will be publised on the admission portal.

Note that is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the stages of the WWI entrance exam. Or else the candidate will not be included in the merit list.

Q:   What will be the seat allotment process through IICD 2025 exam?

If the candidate doesn’t accept the seat allocated during IICD 2025 counseling process, the seat will be canceled.

Also, the seat in that case will be allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit in IICD 2025 exam.

So, it is the responsibility of the candidate to pay the seat-acceptance fee by the given deadline.

The results of the IICD 2025 exam will be declared on February 21, 2025. Candidates who have qualified in the exam are eligible for admission and need to subnmit the semester fees online.

It is recommended that the candidate solve sample papers at any time/ stage of the IIAD exam preparation 2025.

Q:   When will online applications open for IICD exam?
A: 

Online applications for the IICD 2025 exam opened on October 7, 2024. Applications have to be filled by candidates who met the prescribed eligibility criteria. The last date for filling the application form is Janaury 7, 2024. Candidates who successfully fill out the application form can download the admit cards for IICD 2025 once it is released.

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) will conduct the IICD 2025 exam by Janaury 25, 2025.
