IICD Entrance Exam 2023 - The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) will start classes for various design courses offered at its various campuses in July 2023. The admission process is open to candidates who have qualified in the IICD 2023 exam.

Earlier the institute declared the results of the IICD 2023 entrance exam on April 28, 2023. To check their results, the candidate needs to log in to the result portal using their email id and password. 

Candidates who have qualified in the exam need to submit the semester fee online from May 1-15, 2023.

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design conducted the IICD 2023 entrance exam on April 16, 2023.

The IICD 2023 exam had two parts - 1) Part A is a General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test that was conducted from 10 am-12 noon, while 2) Part B included sub-parts - a) Material, Color & Conceptual Test was conducted from 1-3 pm, followed by the b) Personal Interview (from 3 pm onward). 

The weightage of the THREE parts:

  1. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test – 35% 
  2. Material, Color & Conceptual Test – 45% 
  3. Personal Interview – 20% 

Admit cards for the IICD 2023 exam were issued on March 16, 2023. The IICD 2023 will be conducted at 14 centers.

What is IICD Entrance Exam?

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design offers admission to candidates aspiring to build their careers in the field of design. Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) conducts IICD entrance exam basis of which candidates are provided admission in UG and PG level design courses offered by the institute under the aegis of Rajasthan ILD Skills University (RISU).

The design entrance exam is usually conducted in the month of June, every year. However, this year, the institute is providing admission to candidates basis SOP, portfolio submission, and online interviews only.

The IICD 2023 exam scores will be considered for admission to the 4-year B.Des, 2-year  M.Des, and 3-year M.Voc programs offered by the institute.

IICD Application Form 2023

The application form for IICD 2023 is now closed; online applications were open from October 21, 2022, to March 10, 2023. Candidates who met the prescribed eligibility criteria for the design programs they are seeking admission to had to fill out the application form following the guidelines outlined by the admission committee.

How to fill out IICD 2023 application form

  1. Click on the application form
  2. In the registration form that opens, enter your registration details
  3. On successful registration, a unique candidate account would be created
  4. Fill in all the fields - personal, academic, and contact details
  5. Pay the exam fee
  6. Submit the duly completed application form.

IICD Entrance Exam 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to thoroughly go through the eligibility criteria for UG and PG courses when they are applying for IICD admissions 2023. 

Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses

IICD entrance exam 2023 eligibility criteria for admission in UG courses is such that candidates need to pass Class XII in any stream from a recognized board.

Note: Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply for the design entrance exam. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional subject to submitting the required eligibility certificates by the stipulated date mentioned by IICD. In case, any candidate fails to submit the required certificates by the stipulated date his/her admission at IICD will be cancelled. In such a scenario IICD admission fees paid by the candidate for the first semester will not be refunded, informs the official website.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

All candidates should clear graduation from a recognised university in Design and Architecture background. The official website of the institute informs, "Candidates who are Design/ Architecture graduates can directly be admitted to 2 years MVoc programme after clearing the entrance test."

It may be noted that candidates who clear graduation from a discipline other than Design and Architecture are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates will be "eligible for MVoc after completion of 1 Year PG foundation offered at IICD, which means MVoc will be 3 years for non-design background graduate," informs the official website.

Note: Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply for the design entrance exam. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional subject to submitting the required eligibility certificates by the stipulated date mentioned by IICD. IICD Entrance Exam 2023 Admission Process

Candidates need to go through the below-mentioned steps in order to take part in IICD admission process successfully.

Step 1: Fill IICD entrance exam application form

For IICD entrance exam 2023 registration candidates first need to fill the IICD application form in the online mode on the official website of the college. The IICD entrance exam application form includes sections such as a candidate’s personal details, education details, and address.

Step 2: Get the IICD entrance exam admit card

After successful IICD entrance exam 2023 registration, IICD admit cards are emailed to candidates on their registered email IDs. 

On exam day, candidates need to bring a printout of the admit card, with a self-attested recent passport-size photo pasted on the admit card. In addition, candidates also need to carry an original photo ID proof to the IICD entrance exam centre.

Step 3: Appear for IICD entrance exam

Along with the admit card, candidates will also be emailed the IICD Entrance Exam question paper 2022. Candidates need to fill the answers on a Word document/PDF and submit the same along with the portfolio. "The portfolio should be a compilation of candidate’s own creative work. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, models, explorations with materials, creative writing, etc. may be included in the portfolio," reads the official website. Once candidates submit the portfolio they need appear for a personal interview round in online mode. 

Earlier, in order to appear for IICD entrance exam, candidates needed to give two written design tests and a personal interview. While both the written tests will aim at judging the general awareness and design aptitude of candidates, questions in the personal interview round will judge the IQ and personal achievements of candidates.

Step 4: Check IICD entrance exam result

IICD admissions 2023 will be done on the basis of a candidate’s performance in the written test, portfolio round and personal interview round. After conducting the tests and the personal interview round, the college will declare the IICD entrance exam result on its official website.
