The Indian School of Mines Entrance Examination (ISMEE) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad for admission to various M.Tech programs. In 2019, the application process began in the third week of April.

Considering the IIT Dhanbad M.Tech cutoff 2024, the last-round stood between 232 and 711 for the General AI category candidates. Among all the courses, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stands out as the most preferable choice for admission among the students belonging to the General AI quota. The last-round cutoff of the same stood at 711 in 2024.
For the OBC category students, the M.Tech cutoff 2024 varied between 664 and 304, wherein, still, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the most sought-after specialisation in the AI quota.

Based on global rankings and reputation, the University of Leeds, UK is generally considered a better option than IIT Dhanband, India for pursuing a B.Tech course, particularly if you prioritize international exposure, research opportunities, and a wider range of specializations within engineering fields; however, factors like cost, proximity to home, and specific programme focus should also be considered depending on your individual needs.

The numbers are interesting in the placement report of IIT ISM Dhanbad on MSc Tech in Applied Geophysics. There are several eligibility requirements to be fulfilled to seek admission for an MBA course in IIT Dhanbad, which was known as ISM earlier. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree with at least 60% marks. They will also then have to qualify with a score in the CAT (Common Admission Test), which is the sole basis for shortlisting candidates. As far as candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are considered, they require a minimum of 55%.

Even the scores received in the MBA entrance examination – CAT percentile rank 69.8 makes it almost impossible to get a call from the IIT ISM for their MBA program. The approximate percentile range that a candidate requires to get through IIT ISM MBA is 85- 95 percentile. SC candidates must have at least 75% in their 12th-grade board exams, along with the qualification of JEE Main and Advanced scores, to be eligible for admission to IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. With a score of 69%, you do not qualify for B.Tech courses. You can consider state engineering colleges or private colleges, which have lower cutoff requirements. Check specific college criteria or think about raising your score in future attempts.

The entrance exam required for admission to the MBA programme at IIT Dhanbad is the Common Admission Test (CAT):
Eligibility
Candidates must have a valid CAT score and a first-class or 60% marks or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10 in their degree. Final-year students are also eligible to apply.

Candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT percentile and then invited for a personal interview.
