Hey ! since he has not done well in JEE mains ,he will not get the seat in government institutes dont worry there are still many colleges who conducts their own entrance examination and get admission by availing high scholarship.These colleges are doing equally good as top Government institutions.here are some of the colleges where you can get admission:

i have heard that Lovely Professional University provides scholarship upto 1.5 lakh per annum based on your score in their Entrance exam.Their infrastructure, placements, ranking, recognization etc are exceptional.,

Criteria for scholarship depends upon college to college.
Some offers the first 25 entry the 100% scholarship, while others to the branch opener.
Roughly you need to score 90% plus in +2 and below 10000 rank in entrance.

Being an OBC category candidate, you can get average level of college as per the marks you scored. If you are not ready to take another chance then take admission via counseling process otherwise I would like to suggest you that do preparation once again because you can score quite better in next chance. its not like that if you drop your study one year and prepare for entrance exam from kota or delhi at coaching institute you will get better college for engineering and after engineering you will be at better place in future.
if you want admission in a college direct it is only possible in less reputable college your engineering degree value only if it is from good college

Don't waste ur precious time study hard for advance.

No you can not get any of the NIT college at such score in jee mains. You scored very good in board but your marks should be near about 150 tp get any NIT college.

Very difficult chance look for private colleges.
