If you have studied well for UP board exams then you may try for JEE this year itself. UP board is tough as compared to CBSE and you still have time for the exam. You can prepare well. Also, if you are not able to crack JEE and don't get a good engineering college then you can drop a year. But remember that your target are IITs but if you are getting admission in a reputed institute like DTU, BITS Pilani or NITs then also do not take a drop, rather take admission in those colleges as they also offer good placements.

Hello Sanket,
In JEE Mains, the questions are not that tough but they require high conceptual knowledge and solving skills.
The questions are from PCM only based on classes 11th & 12th syllabi (NCERT).
First, you can go through the concepts in PCM as they play a major role in any of the exams.
The questions in JEE Mains will be generally easy but you need to master the concepts to be fast in answering as the time is not more.
You can prefer NCERT books for getting conceptual clarity. Then you can prefer TMH (Tata Mc Graw Hill) and Arihant books for PCM concepts as well as problems.
They are really good books for JEE preparation and they prov

Hello Pankaj,
Preparing for JEE Advanced is like preparing for a good quality entrance exam. Questions here are invariably application based and unless concepts are well known, it's difficult to pass. There are indeed u tube videos but they are of limited value. Don't worry. There are enough students who have got admission in IIT without any coaching class.

It is a better idea if you start your JEE preparations from the class 8th or 9th because there are many subjects and competitive olympiads and exams being conducted class 7th onwards in which you can participate and learn a lot of things. Also, you can enter the group of an elite category of students which are hired by various coaching institutes and provided with the high-class preparation methods for JEE Mains for free. Though you have to study a lot in the time where no one can realise the actual study pattern of competitions which would be hard for you if you can face this you, will definitely raise your chances for Advanced. Also,

The best way for the preparation of JEE Mains along with boards is through linking their syllabus.
What one needs to know is the common aspects from the point of view of both the exams.
Most of the time, students make mistakes and study the same topic thrice from Mains perspective followed by Advanced and boards exams.
For that, take an example of thermodynamics, first read your school textbooks thoroughly then go through with your coaching notes and ask all the doubts related to your topic.
After that, go through your textbook questions, both subjective and objective.
From boards only, one has covered a lot of Mains topics because the st

Exam Pattern of B.Arch. JEE: B. Arch is a 3 hours exam based on Mathematics, Aptitude and a Drawing/Sketching Test. Since maths is a core subject, most coaching centers would have included maths in their mode of learning.

True that even with self-study, you can achieve anything. In this case, clear the JEE Mains, but that doesn't mean it is the easier of the two alternatives. Coaching makes life easier for its students, and contrary to the popular opinion it does not have to be a nightmarish experience. And it will definitely improve your rank.
