It is compulsory to pass in 50 percent paper ( 5 out 10) for getting promoted to 2nd year. In other words in 2 semesters combined ( each semester consists of 5 papers) clearing 5 papers will sufficient. Which menas effectively you can miss an entire semester and you could still be promoted to 2nd year. ( Although my advice would be not to be so adventurous)
Like wise for promotion to 3rd year Clearing 15 papers out of 20 is compulsory. And in final year it is advisable to clear all the papers ( 10 papers) in one go otherwise most probably you'll have to wait for long to appear for supplementary which might cost you an entire year. Note

If you are expecting law marks in any competitive exam then I would suggest you to participate in both the counselling. Although there are more chances in State wise counselling than All India counselling. But do not take risk in skipping the all India Counselling. You might still have chance in both. Good luck.

Closing rank for 2022 was 278. It depends on your category & domicile but you have less chances. Although you can try for other good government law colleges.
