Tough Question, not because you are asking for Placements after a Course in Literature. Not because Literature does not get you a job, it does, but unfortunately, most of the government colleges (in tier 2 cities) and many universities as well have failed to add the professional tag to this course. However, some Private Universities, offering the BA English Hons in a varied and modern way like English, Journalism and Content Writing made a part of the learning, they are doing well. Go for higher studies, like M.Phil Ph.D. B.Ed or Saiva Bhanu Kshatriya College, DG Vaishnav College in Madras University or Tamil university. Your career will be as a teacher, professor, researcher in Tamil and UPSC, SET, NET.

Go through Hudson's Background to the study of Literature threadbare. The book will give you a comprehensive idea. Study Abram's Literary Terms beforehand. Read some Shakespeare and Keats. Improve your literary taste. Learn to read in detail. Get rid of superficial reading.
