The teaching here is good. The professors have a lot of knowledge regarding their subjects. You get to implement whatever you study in the labs which are properly kept. The department offers projects under various professors so you get practical experience and also there are clubs related to the department that aim on building RC planes for competitions. The placements in MIT for mechanical engineering is quite decent. Big companies come but they come a little late, in the 8th semester mostly. Most people say that placements in mechanical engineering in MIT are not so great. I won't deny that but it's not bad either. On an average you get an annual package of 5-6 lakhs.

Aeronautical engineering is for people who take genuinely interested in this field. It was a lot of departments like Aerodynamics, Propulsion, structures etc. If you wish you to go for practical work you may like to work in structures or in the manufacturing department. You need to score above 100 to get Aeronautical Engineering.
