It's difficult if you are a general category student. Normally, the cut-off is more than 75 percentile for NIT, Trichy. You will get a call for GD and PI, but it's difficult to get admission with this percentile.

Regular candidates should possess a valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. IIT graduates who obtained a CGPA of 8 and above on 10 are exempted from CAT score. Their shortlisting will be based on a composite score with due weights to applicants CAT score, past academic performance, industry experience and gender.

You must look for the college which has the good set of faculty members because after all, the skills development, it is the subject that will fetch you a job, in the end, it doesn't mean that other aspects are to be neglected but basics of the subject is necessary. The return on the fees that you invest must be good, which means the average placement package should be near to the fees you pay to the college if it is more than it is most preferred. Hi Vishnupriya,
To be comfortable, it is better to get 85% marks or above in MAT 2017. Also, it is better to have a valid MAT score in February 2017.
