MCA is offered by number of universities in India.
Candidates usually gets admission by qualifying entrance examination conducted either by the universities or by the Directorate of Technical Education of India.
In order to be eligible for most of the Universities, one must have qualified Bachelors Degree program and have studied Mathematics either in the Higher Secondary level or in the Bachelors level.
The Board from which the candidate has passed the Higher Secondary level of examination as well as the University which awarded the degree must be recognized by the government of India.

- Students who have finished their graduation in Science can also apply. These students must have studied Mathematics as a subject in class 10+2.
- There is no age limit.
Aspirants need to write an entrance exam to get admission into the MCA course.

MCA is a three-year Post-Graduate course offered by various universities/institutes. Some of the good universities/Institutes which offer MCA are Pune University, Jawaharlal Nehru University - New Delhi, Hyderabad Central University - these being among the top five Universities in the country. Graduation with 1 yr. PG Diploma in Computer Applications/ Information Technology/ Computer Science or BCA/ B.Sc IT/ B.Sc CS or BE or B.Tech in relevant stream or 'A' level from DOEACC after Graduation or Successful completion of 1st yr./ first 2 semesters of corresponding programme from a recognised University or equivalent
