I believe that you have just started preparing for the MBA entrance examinations. I will give you the exact reasons why JBIMS is one of the most sought after B-school in the country.

So I would suggest doing from JBIMS would be an added advantage, also it has small batch size as compared to SPJIMR so it will be also beneficial for the candidate to excel in small batch as compared to the big batch of SPJIMR. You would be a part of the CEO Factory after getting a tag from JBIMS.
Also, the total fee for the program is also very low as compared to SPJIMR.

Both institutes are premiere B-Schools of India. NMIMS is much known for marketing and JBIMS much known for finance. But MBA/MMS in any discipline from either institute is good. Both institutes are in Mumbai and industry exposure for students is good in both the institutes. Placements wise JBIMS has a slight edge (placement wise every major financial service company, major banks do come for placements with sought-after profiles. You might not get investment trading desk directly as compared to A, B, and C of the IIMs ) over NMIMS. With regards to admissions perspective, both the institutes have a very high cut-off in CAT. While both Lala Lajpat Rai and Thakur Institute lies among the top 20 colleges in Mumbai to do an MMS from, Lala Lajpat Rai is ranked 3- 4 Ranks ahead of Thakur Institute and the placements in Lala Lajpat Rai is a bit better than Thakur Institute.
