Yes, you have to qualify the NET exam in order to become an assistant professor. The CSIR NET Exam is conducted for the Science stream candidates while UGC NET exam is conducted for the other stream candidates. The NET exam was conducted by CBSE which will be conducted by NTA from December 2018. The minimum eligibility is post graduation degree which you fulfill already. The CSIR NET exam is conducted for the life Science, Chemical Science, physical Science, Earth Science and mathematical Science. You may also apply for UGC NET pharmacy.
The candidates are allowed to apply for the subject of their Master's degree or its related

UGC NET Paper 1 is conducted as the first phase of Exam in UGC NET. While there are two phases in this exam. Paper 1 plays a major role. To prepare for the NET Exam paper 1 need to make command over the Aptitude English as well as General Intelligence and Reasoning section. No, you can't. The basic rule of NET exam is that the candidates can only apply for the exam with their masters' subject. According to your subject, you can apply for CSIR NET Earth Sciences in the place of UGC NET. It would be a better option for you. It is a national-level exam which is conducted for the Science stream students who want to become a researcher or a lecturer. To appear for the exam, you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in your masters. If you want to appear for junior research fellowship, then your age must be less than or equal to 28 years. For assistant professor, this age limit is not applicable
