One year course is a diploma course whereas the 4 year course gives a degree. You should first try for BDes or BFTech and keep this one year course as a backup

It depends on which course do you want and the category you belong. For getting FD or FC in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai you need to be in top 100 whereas in TD and KD you need to have rank under 500 in general category.

The best guide books for NIFT entrance exam are these:
1. NIFT Entrance Exam Guide by Surendra
2. NIFT Exam Guide by Verma
3. Prashant Kumars NIFT Entrance Examination Preparation Guide
You can access all these by joining a good coaching institute. I think ICAD India is one of the best coaching centres for NIFT entrance examination preparation. They show good results.
Other than the ones mentioned above, one could also try these following books:
1. Bright Careers Guide NIFT Entrance Exams
2. NIFT/NID Exam Guide by Datason RP
3. Concepts of Pattern Grading
Practice is the key to success and one will do better if he/she joins a coaching centre.

Coaching institutes will never guarantee you that you will clear the exams, they can just guide you. Getting an admission in these institutes actually depends on your aptitude, knowledge about the field and your interest.
