NIT-Agartala is a better option for you.
Kindly go with NIT-Agartala if CSE is provided there because packages from Agartala is more or less same as that of other colleges.

I think you should go for NIT, Silchar CSE without any 2nd thought. One thing I would like to point out that NIT, Silchar is not one of the 'lower' NITs. CSE is the blooming sector everywhere in India, and here, placement opportunities are excellent. NIT is an institute of National Importance. It's directly under MHRD whose standards will be maintained. Fee is comparatively very less in NIT.
Placements (CSE): Not to be biased, CSE of NIT Silchar has taken a delayed take-off in terms of placement. This year's (2016) placements included biggies like Goldman Sachs , Price Waterhouse Coopers, Wells Fargo, SAP Labs, Samsung R and D, Snapdeal
...more

Go for NITS any day. If you look at the ranking also it is ahead but this year also MHRD ranked it above NITA.
The top branches here at NITS are CSE, ECE, mechanical, electrical, civil.

Level of education is very high and serious here. A guy would struggle if he takes it to be a stereotypical B.Tech college. Almost all the professors have masters and doctoral from the leading IITs of the country. Some of them have also went for research abroad.
Regarding placements, the first batch of electrical and civil engineering students graduated in 2017 and the first batch of mechanical students will graduate in 2018. Half of the guys sitting for campus selection got placed with a highest package of 8.5 lakhs INR pa. Those are really encouraging signs.

It will be very difficult for you to get into NIT, Durgapur at this rank. You should try government colleges in Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. I think you may get one there.

Job prospects are average in NIT as the chances are not that higher but still there are chances for placements.

Dear Prasenjit Deb,
NIT-Agartala is the best option when compare with Silchar. NIT-Agartala received (last year) 36 LPA, whereas Silchar received 9.5 LPA, you can prepare for NIT-Agartala.
All the best.

Be calm during your GDPI. Present yourself as exactly as what you are. Don't pretend to be so professional. Have your own answer and not bookish and take it as a fun. If you get nervous, interact them with your life amazing moments. It will be a perfect one. Go through some current affairs and nothing more.
