To apply for the National Institute of Technology Agartala MBA course, candidates must have valid scores in MAT/ GMAT/ CAT/ CMAT national-level entrance tests. Candidates are selected through various national-level entrance tests which include IIT JAM, CCMN, JEE Main, GATE, CCMT, NIMCET, MAT, GMAT, CAT, CMAT, etc. NIT Agartala comprises 13 departments that offer more than 20 courses in different streams such as Science, IT and Software, Engineering etc. Candidates are selected through multiple national-level entrance tests for these courses. Admission is provided on the basis of cumulative scores of a qualifying exam, Personal Interview and profile of the candidate.

During the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022, the National Institute of Technology Agartala was ranked 80 in the Engineering category.
