National institute of technology, kurukshetra is considered as one of the most prestigious technical Institute in our country. I will give some points regarding the college here:
Departments:
CS/IT department : This department bags the highest placement packages every year. The coding culture is very good. The drawback of this department is the faculty ratio. Less no. of professors are experienced and most of them are on contract basis.CCN facility is very good and u can visit there any time.

Obviously, look out for NIT as there is no stand for state level colleges in front of the national level college.

Hello Aakanksha,
To get admission in top universities/colleges in India other than IITs and NITs, you need to crack the respective entrance exams like BITSAT, VITEEE, SRM JEE, MOUET, AEEE, etc.
These are some of the national level exams for which students aspire. If you have 90% or above in board exams, then some universities like LPU, Amity University, etc. admit students without entrance exams.
Some universities like SASTRA University takes admission based on board exam marks and also, with JEE Mains marks but it doesn't come under the counselling of JEE.

NIT counselling is an online process.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be the responsible authority for the counselling and seat allotment of JEE Main 2017. JEE Main 2017 counselling and seat allotment will be held in seven rounds. JEE Main 2017 counselling and seat allotment will be not be conducted separately but will be collectively conducted through JoSAA 2017 for 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs, which are the participating institutes of JEE Main 2017. I guess, yes. Anyone under 10000 rank is eligible for the admission and since you are an SC, you have more options and chances available. Just apply once you feel like and you are ready to go. BTW, congrats 2843 is a great score.

Check out the link josaa.nic.in where in you will find the opening and closing ranks of nits through which you can confirm your college and branch check for the top 10 NITs which are decent.

Hi, just check the site http://josaa.nic.in/webinfocms/public/view.aspx?page=46 to know the opening and closing ranks of NIT's through which you can have a clear idea I think you will be getting new NIT only if you belong to OBC, SC or ST. Good luck !!
