To answer questions from the critical thinking section, test takers need to work on decision-making and problem-solving. For decision-making questions, candidates will need to take into cognizance various rules/conditions as well as take decisions that are based upon rules/ conditions. While in problem-solving, candidates need to analyze the given information and condense all the information in a suitable form and answer the questions asked.

In the previous sessions of NMIMS NPAT exam, there was a section for General Knowledge. Candidates had toi answer questions from static GK as well as current affairs. However, SVKMs NMIMS do not have questions from GK section after 2020 exam session. The three core sections of NPAT exam are
- Verbal Reasoning: This section includes questions to test English Proficiency of the candidate.
- Logical Reasoning: This section includes questions to measure the ability or aptitude to reason logically.
- Quantitative Reasoning: This section includes questions to gauge the basic mathematical skills of the candidate.

SVKMs NMIMS conducts the NPAT exam with as many as three sections. NMIMS NPAT exam is a gateway for admission to Bachelor courses from the following streams:
- Commerce
- Econmics
- Liberal Arts
- Branding & Advertising
- International Studies
- Management
The NPAT exam syllabus for all the streams mentioned above is identical. Candidates need to answer questions from Verbal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning while taking the NPAT exam. Three sections in NPAT exam is at par with any other bachelor's level competitive exam in the country.

Candidates must upload the photograph by keeping all the necessary specifications in mind. Besides the specifications, candidates must know which photo will be considered inappropriate while filling the NPAT application form. The guidelines to take a photo are mentioned below:
- Upload a recent photograph to avoid any confusion at the test centre
- Image must be a front-facing photo
- No accessories should be worn in the photo
- Candidates must avoid taking a picture from a phone camera
- Photo background must be white or light-coloured

Candidates need to upload a photograph while filling the NPAT application form. To upload the photograph during the NPAT registration, candidates have to follow the specifications laid down by NMIMS. Non-compliance with the image upload specifications can lead to rejection of the application form. The document upload specifications in NPAT application process includes the file size, dimensions, and format. Here are the image upload specifications as per the NPAT application process:

SVKMs NMIMS releases the NPAT application form in the first week of December. Candidates aspiring for admission to courses after Class 12 offered by any of the campuses of NMIMS must apply for the NPAT exam. NMIMS NPAT exam acts as a gateway for admission to UG courses. NPAT registration window is facilitated on the official exam website along with the release of the NPAT admission handout. Candidates can fill the NPAT form online along with the payment of registration fee. Candidates completing the NPAT application form submission are allowed to appear for the exam as per the schedule.

Other than solving various kinds of problems, memorising formulas and learning tricks for Quantitative and Numerical Ability, test takers should start solving riddles, sudoku and puzzles to strengthen quantitative skills for NPAT exam. In this section of NPAT exam, test takers need to recognise grammatical structure and usage, use prepositions, determiners, connectives, tenses appropriately. Grasping the meaning of underlined words in sentences, using appropriate words in given context, put ideas into logical sequences by putting the jumbled sentences in the correct order. In order to solve questions from the reading comprehension section, it is important for the test takers to locate information, grasp ideas, identify and interpret relationships and ideas, moods, characteristics, tone of the passage, infer, get the central theme and evaluate given passage.
