I would say it's yet to gain momentum. It would be easier to explain if the question has specialisations in robotics. Robotics has several aspects: mechanics, motor controls, sensors and actuators, vision, computing, and intelligence. There are numerous companies working on these fields individually, but there are hardly few companies working on all of these domains or on a robotic product as such. If you consider Machine Intelligence, you will find several startups and MNCs. Robotics comes in to mechatronics. It requires knowledge of Electronics computer and mechanical so, u can take any field among those branch. By taking mechanical u will get knowledge of all these three branch and you can take mechatronics as a special subject on your last year of course or in further if you want to go for the post graduation u can take mechatronics.
