For robotics, the best branch depends on what aspect of robotics you want to focus on, but overall B.Tech in Robotics & Automation Engineering is the most direct and specialized option. It is specifically designed for robotics and covers areas like automation, AI, sensors, and control systems.

Honestly, Robotics & AI at TIET is still pretty new, so placements aren't separate or “guaranteed” yet. Most students sit with CSE/COE/ENC during placements, and that's where the real action is.
Thapar's overall placement scene is solid though — big names like Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, DE Shaw, Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart do come in. If you're skilled, you won't be held back just because your branch says AI.
If you want a safer + stronger option, I'd say:
COE (Computer Engineering) – best placements overall
CSE – great if you get it
ENC (Electronics & Computer) – underrated, very good mix of hardware + software
