Admission to MA programme is based on merit criteria at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. The applicants who have completed any undergraduate degree of minimum three years duration in any stream from an acknowledged or recognised university (approved by UGC) and have a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in HSC, shall be eligible for admission. The primary selection list for GD-PI-WAT will be prepared based on the academic performance.

St. Xavier's College of Kolkata has set up certain eligibility criteria for its MA course. The candidates need to complete Higher secondary studies in any stream from any recognised board with at least an aggregate of 55% or above. Admission to the MA course at St. Xavier's College is based on merit. Candidates shall check the eligibility criteria before starting the admission prorcess. The primary selection list for GD-PI-WAT will be prepared by the institute based on this score.

St. Xavier's College, Kolkata BSc admissions are decided through the entrance test conducted by Calcutta University. To be eligible for BSc admissions at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, candidates must clear their Class 12 board examination with a minimum aggregate of 60% from a recgnised board. in the Science stream. However, the documents of eligible candidates would be considered through a counselling process to ascertain their final admission as per performance and available seats.

Candidate must be a graduate from recognised university to get admission at St Xavier's College Kolkata. As per the Right to Education (RTE) Act, to get appointed as a teacher in any school in India, a candidate must pass the Teacher Eligiblity Test (TET)/ Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam, conducted by the appropriate Government according to the guidelines framed by NCTE.
